Valkyries Rising

Final piece for the Paolozzi prize/ideastap competition. Based on the apocalypse and my Valkyries 'rising', uses different techniques learnt from a portfolio course and the first one has red lighting on it to show the depths and shadows created by the 3D objects on the painting. It uses soil, plants, metal and an old firgure drawing doll paper mache'd. Also did some spray painting and some stencil work on it.

Recent sketchbook work to show some ideas and developments for an art piece thing I'm doing based on the apocalypse.

It's started :D

So I finally got my ass around to actually making the costume, got the models sizes and made a start. The large leg and arm thingys(technical term obviously) that are red are inspired by wire headbands and the belt is cardboard with lovely fabric so it doesn't look like cardboard and some 'riveting' rivets(ahahaha I'm so funny) to hold the belt more securely to the cardboard done by the school technician. I'm trying to take my time with it so it looks really good in the end, I feel I always end up rushing and that I go for getting it done as fast as possible but my teacher is quickly making me break those habits so all should be fine....
